Shame, or Guilt?

Do you know the difference?

because it’s blaring bright

and no one seems to know,

until the damage is imprinted

to deep to simply cut loose.

I am guilty of hurting people

I feel no shame that I had an illness

that amplified my negativity.

guilt is about the things we did,

shame is about who we are,

those things that we cannot remove from our bodies

without killing our “self.”

Shame of is

the desire to remove

the heart of humanness in each of us,

that only we could locate for ourselves

I like people whose default setting toward others is compassion, an open mind, and honesty
