The Tiger

I look to the old tiger in the corner.

Thinking that they don’t usually last this long.

But it is the little boys heart inside

Still beating inside the tiger

That betrays his tired limbs,

Discovered on October 31st 1996,

Promptly lugged home and feed Reese’s, and tootsie rolls.

All of the little boy’s Halloween haul that he didn’t care about.

Because he was still hungry,

And good tuna is expensive,

The boy fed his friend stories and dreams over the years .

Until his heart had but a few,

And the tiger was stuffed,

While the boy took a tiger’s spirit to face the world.

And the tiger lives on, laying peacefully in the corner of this room.

His adventures is done and he waits to be found by young eyes again.

I am a writer with an extremely active imagination. I love learning answers to questions and what makes everything and everyone tick. I am a "Unique case, medically" if nothing else. I am flawed in my extreme aversion to failure (even when "success" isn't good for me,) but have come a long way in ditching the perfectionist mindset. I like people whose default setting toward others is compassion, an open mind, and honesty
