The sun is a gentle bath,
Quiet and warm
The color is rising back into the earth’s cheeks
These were perfect days
to stay home from school,
Full of endless promise
And unburded by anything
But a flu.
The idea that biases or roadblocks
were ahead of me
Was only as concrete as the contents of my stomach.
And, if I watched The Price is Right,
And cartoons?
I was blissful,
And that was enough.
