Family Realism

The idea that I must love

Those whose blood I share

Makes me roll my eyes.

Family can be deadly just as easily

As it can be loving.

All too often spirits are decapitated

With families choosing to

Bury the dead under the title,

“FAMILY”

If a body doesn’t fall in step,

It’s all too common to remove

The protruding, “toxic” limb,

From the whole.

Sacrificial and merciless.

Until, eventually, an abscess of humanity remains,

pain breeding pain,

Poison breeding Poison.

And we defend blood.

While questioning love and compassion.

I am a writer with an extremely active imagination. I love learning answers to questions and what makes everything and everyone tick. I am a "Unique case, medically" if nothing else. I am flawed in my extreme aversion to failure (even when "success" isn't good for me,) but have come a long way in ditching the perfectionist mindset. I like people whose default setting toward others is compassion, an open mind, and honesty
