I know when she sends me a message
Every few months,
Every time I see her,
“Hey,”
She’s in another cash crunch.
Her baby is out of diapers,
She started a new job,
But her car’s out of gas.
I could tell her no,
I could leave her hanging,
But, I keep remembering that phrase,
Like mother,
Like child,
She has three children.
So, I send what I can,
If I can.
I don’t expect my friend,
To learn money management,
Without a teacher.
And I am not a distance education teacher.
I am a human being,
I am a friend,
And I do what I can,
When all I can do is give what I can.
