Never Thought I’ Be a Preacher But…

DRINK! WATER!

I have empirical evidence as to the importance:

I woke up yesterday,

Feeling like a cheap TV dinner, microwaved for the 5th time.

Hot flashes, lethargy, stomach upset.

I did everything slowly, half-heartedly,

Considering a nap,

But not convinced I could fall asleep.

As previously reported,

I decided to push through.

Took a meandering walk,

Returned to do simple things,

And. Drink. Water.

Passionately.

Only to look up at 7:52pm.

And drink more.

By the time dinner was done,

My body had lifted, partially.

Enough to close the day,

again slowly.

Drinking water while wondering,

Am I going to wake up to pee, in a panic, at 2am?

It wouldn’t be the first time.

But, 6 hours later I woke up,

Uneventfully, except for the fact that

I felt human again.

The moral:

Good chef-made meals,

Don’t use dehydrated potato flakes.

I am a writer with an extremely active imagination. I love learning answers to questions and what makes everything and everyone tick. I am a "Unique case, medically" if nothing else. I am flawed in my extreme aversion to failure (even when "success" isn't good for me,) but have come a long way in ditching the perfectionist mindset. I like people whose default setting toward others is compassion, an open mind, and honesty
