Testing, Do Not Disturb.

Anxiety.

I tried not to let it reign.

I practiced self care,

And studied.

I put my best foot forward,

And, as it turned out,

I put it out into a puddle,

On the way to the exam.

And, as it turned out,

My ride wasn’t even there.

Stay upbeat,

Sing in the heavy rain 🌧 🎶

Don’t get angry,

But the stress is rising.

Even as I am fighting to stay buoyant.

Upon arrival, I practiced puffery.

Believe it; see it.

The only thing throbbing

As I answer questions,

Is the space above my eyes.

The atheist is tempted to pray.

After I leave,

eating my own violently pulsing heart,

I do nothing but sleep,

(Waking only to feed the cat alone)

For 12 hours.

  1. Phew! Tests like that which include unknowns, the elements, as well as the knowledge you are asked to regurgitate, take a lot out of a student. Sleep and more sleep was the good choice afterwards. Sleep is a restorative.

    1. The hard part is knowing what that particular instructor wants one to focus on because law is debatable…. and time limits/ no notes, and two tests on different topics within days of each other…I’m utterly terrified.

      1. Utterly terrified is so true. Facing these tests is something not everyone can or would do. Facing them is called courage regardless of the outcome, but we are rooting for you, Misty. Remember to breathe in and out slowly and look the questioner(s) right in the eye(s)! Whoever knows what will come of anything?
